EU Directive 2023/2226, known as DAC8, amends EU tax administrative cooperation rules by extending mandatory automatic reporting obligations to crypto-asset transactions and also introduces new rules on the exchange of advance cross-border tax rulings regarding high net worth individuals.

EU Directive 2023/2226, known as DAC8, amends EU tax administrative cooperation rules by extending mandatory automatic reporting obligations to crypto-asset transactions and also introduces new rules on the exchange of advance cross-border tax rulings regarding high net worth individuals.

This session will seek to provide a comprehensive understanding of what DAC8 signifies for businesses and tax professionals navigating the evolving landscape of crypto regulations.

This session will discuss the adoption of DAC8 at the EU level by exploring its interaction with EU Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA) and providing insight on provisions such as obligations for reporting crypto-asset service providers, reporting requirements, and due diligence procedures. In addition, this session will also delve into the alignment of DAC8 with the recent developments of the OECD crypto-asset reporting framework (CARF), and the pertinent amendments to the Common Reporting Standard (CRS) such as extensions to the scope of the current framework to cover specified electronic money products and central bank digital currencies.

Qualifies for  2 CPE CORE hours under the core competency area.
