A Practical Workshop on VAT Grouping – 11 April 2019
A practical workshop on VAT Grouping
In the 2017 budget speech the Finance Minister referred to the intention of introducing VAT grouping in Malta. Subsequently the necessary submissions and consultations were made with the VAT Committee during its 110th Meeting held on 13 April 2018, in line with Article 11 of the EU VAT Directive 2006/112/EC,. Following some clarifications, regulations were issued by the Maltese Government on 22 May 2018 (effective 1 June 2018) via Legal Notice 162 of 2018 entitled ‘Value Added Tax (Registration as a Single Taxable Person) Regulations, 2018’
The scope of the session is to first give an overview of this new VAT Grouping concept together with some background information regarding why and how VAT Grouping was introduced in Malta. The session will then develop with discussing the main provisions of the Legal Notice and their respective implications on those effected by the introduction of the VAT Grouping Concept together with examples to better appreciate and understand such implications.
