Seminar Description

“Transparency” is the new buzz word in the current tax landscape, this inevitably impacted laws and regulations in an effort to enhance transparency and this impacted our day-to-day lives.

Two initiatives that were introduced in Malta that aim at increasing transparency in tax matters are the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA) and the Common Reporting Standard (CRS). These initiatives increased pressure on financial institutions holding accounts for their clients / customers to perform additional due diligence requirements and in certain cases report personal information to the Maltese tax authorities.
